Ingredients

  • Kostol PGP: Non-ionic o/w emulsifier. Provides a quick break and light feel, without affecting viscosity. Designed for multiple formula types, wide pH tolerance. Usuage level 2-6%.
  • Kester Wax K-72: Naturally derived wax ester of plant origin. High melt point solid wax, provides structure and easy payoff in anhydrouss applications. Emollient, jojoba wax alternative. Usage level 1-10%.
  • Kester Wax K-24: Naturally derived wax ester of plant origin. Low melt point semi-solid, melts on body contact, provides cooling sensation. Adds slip, reduces greasy feel, dimethicone alternative. Usage level up to 50%.

Procedure

  • Premix glycerin and xanthan gum, add to Phase A and heat to 80–85°C while mixing until uniform.
  • Mix and melt Phase B at 80-85°C until uniform.
  • Combine Phase C (Color Base) ingredients and mill until homogeneous and then slowly add to Phase B.
  • Add the Phase B/C mixture to Phase A while mixing.
  • When emulsion is smooth, begin cooling, add Phase D around 50°C. Cool to RT and fill desired containers.

Stability Information

Three months at room temperature, three months at 45°C, three freeze/thaw cycles.
